Because they ran a candidate who would lose to George fucking Santos

Because of 'swing' districts in New York where Democrats who win by small margins lost to Republicans running on 'crime', that's where messaging like 'Defund the Police' doesn't work. It's the same for abortion, a Republican in deep red district campaigning on 'Total Abortion Ban' would play out badly in a swing district with a Republican avoiding the abortion topic.

Fear sells, I won't deny that, but you'll never outscare the GOP running as a dem.
