I was upper middle class w/a good job when i punched my ticket for Clinton. I'd say I'm an "obama moderate". I didn't pay much attention to anyone but the two because Trump's rhetoric repulsed me. Bernie's schtick came across as kooky commie shit since I was not hypervigilant on politics so just saw your usual news and papers on his proposals.
I'm still upper middle class. Having lived through all of Trump's bullshit, I didn't see any hand picked dem pulling the country back to Obama days so rooted for "the commie" having read the proposals and platform. Still punched my ticket for Joe in the general because I'm no anarchist. I can't sit here and carry water for the dem. party on such a lackluster albeit expected performance and don't see us correcting w/a 2nd term.
If your nick is to be believed (exGOP), I can see the current dem. party appeal. It's closer to McCain, Romney, Bush Sr. than it's ever been but not where I, nor millions want the party to be and I personally welcome the progs. being a pain in the old guard's ass. I'm done chastising sit outs whose beef is legitimate having seen it first hand and I see the appeal of rolling the dice on calling the dem's hostage taking "lesser of two evils" bluff. I don't think is a realistic gamble because the right isn't running Christie or someone reasonable but am not gonna blame them for the shitty out of touch presidency of Joe Biden.
Name one issue that Obama would have got done in the current scenario that Biden hasn't or can't. In fact, Biden's stimulus and negotiation on the debt deal have been far better than anything Obama did. If what you need depends on 60 votes in the Senate then you need to direct your blame elsewhere. And it's not even about getting your favorite policies pass through, you have to imagine what the alternative Republican will be doing in the same situation - the judges, on Ukraine, on COVID, on regulation. Tankies' take on politics is no different than enlightened centrism where they can't see differences unless something radical happens.
One of my biggest disappointments w/Obama was being rolled by the GOP and buying into the "bipartisanship/compromise" BS and not hammering them for their obstructionism. He gave them all the border enforcement they wanted only to be told to fuck off on reform. The SCOTUS pick was just the cherry on top.
So you'll forgive my even greater disappointment of Biden having witnessed it, using the same strategy.
Introducing bills to watch them die is the weakest of panders. How many virtue signaling or purity test bills are introduced by the GQP or dems every year? I've seen dems fold under pressure all my life, it's not unreasonable want them bust out the stick, but no, they're all carrot.
As to the tankies....I'm not sure how Marxist Leninist soviet apologists enters the picture. Sure they exist on the fringe left, but we're talking about medicare for all here, not a dictatorship takeover to impose marxism....I see the progs views line up w/soc dem worldwide, not fringe commie.
Calling someone who wants police reform,medicare option for all,free state college,15 minimum wage, a Supreme Court that represents Dems getting the most votes in 7 of last 9 presidential elections a Tankie is as off as republicans calling Biden too far left 
I dont know a single person who went to vote for Biden for the chips act,infrastructure bill,that lame gun bill etc.
I know plenty who went to vote for him for police reform,healthcare,increase minimum wage,free college,real gun control,immigration reform,block fracking on federal land etc bill etc.
