Copy trading

Copy trading is a amazing for the one that starts the trade.

What do you always want to happen when you enter a trade? That everyone follows you, so the price goes into the direction you traded into.

It is the essential trick that is running in trading chats. Lost of minions trading in the same direction that the master set.

Obviously the master gets out before the minions, so the trick is complete. The last minion is the one that gets hurt.

Wait! Am I describing retail trading following props?

I thought the copy trading was where you have accounts that copy your trades to scale up. I've seen on YouTube when they say that's x 10 profits because of my copy accounts lol. Like how does that make any sense because you lose 10 times too.

You, as a minion, follow your master. Just because they say that is top trader.

They are a top trader if you follow and push the price with your copy. Otherwise they are not.

Why would they care about making your trade profitable when they are already top traders? Easy answer, because they are not and need that extra push from your cash.

Consider a trader's record over a long amount of time, revenue consistency, risk-management strategies, and transparency in communication when considering them for copy trading. Analyse their risk-adjusted results and make sure their trading style fits with your own buying goals and risk tolerance.

So basically a pyramid scheme style pump and dump lol.

A very easy copy trade:

BRK annual report is coming out soon. Borrow a copy, read what Buffett owns, buy what he owns and you can go fishing, don't need to trade since his holding period is forever. Check once a year to add to your holding.

If that is too much work, just buy BRK-A (or B if you are not already a millionaire).

Buffet might drop off the pin any day now. Plus he has a lot of problems (constrained by liquidity) that you don't have. I would say starting to follow him 2024 is utterly pointless to be honest, instead it might be better to follow his ideas (but it's generally pointed out that much of his success is due to the leverage in his insurance business, and because several other millions of people want to emulate him you have to do something original regardless).

Depends on the frequency and liquidity. If you trade e.g. SPY on hourly bars then obviously you're not going to move the needle much with trade followers.

That said the vast number of scammers out there do very much enjoy being trade leaders/signal providers/etc. in small cap names yeah.

In 1985-86, I was just starting out, read about him, liked his approach, bought a few shares at ~$2k each, my total net worth at the time.

In 1987, BRK(-A) went up to ~$4K a share, I felt like a trading genius, sold them, used the money to trade other stocks, lost most of it, never got back in until recently bought some BRK-B shares.

Each BRK-A share is worth ~$622K today. :banghead:
