I didn't catch most of the audio. What's the "wild" part?
I understand your point, but I see it differently. This was a large, makeshift sign placed atop an overpass. It was presumably not approved by the municipality for safety purposes, given its potentially dangerous location. Frankly, as a motorist, I would prefer not to drive my car under such a sign, which may or may not be sufficiently secured. The risk of an improperly secured sign could potentially be life threatening to unsuspecting motorists who may conceivably get the message up close and personally right through their windshields. Although the policeman had to tug on the sign to remove it, how was he to know just how secure it was? And if he were to make a judgment on the fly to let it remain and a mishap followed, then he would potentially be liable because he knew about it.
Yes, there are times when some cops abuse their authority. But I don't think this is one of those times.
There is free speech and there is good judgment. They don't need to be mutually exclusive.
How would you know how safe it is or isn't? There was no authoritative body accepting responsibility for its safety. It was secured by people whose sign securing capability is unknown. I would not care to put myself at risk in the hands of unauthorized attention-seeking strangers. As for you, you may do as you please.
omg.. are you serious? this sounds like liberal bed wetting. THEY ARE HOLDING IT!!!! its not heavy... wind goes straight thru it. i don't see any risk.. i don't need a govt authority to give it the green light.

1) People in general talk too much.
2) Don't these people have jobs?
People talk too much and have too much time on their hands. Whatever message on the sign, it is very likely nobody cares. (if they did, no need for the sign, n'est ce pas?)
5 or 6 responders probably cost taxpayers 50k for this incident, we should send these kids a bill for reimbursement.
