Cooltraderdude's TopstepTrader Combine (daily trade report and journal)

Quote from Maverick74:

Perhaps you have not read over the various threads but where did TST say they were looking for experienced traders? Maybe I missed that part. If you go to their website it's clear they are trying to create a "minor league" environment with guys who want to "learn" to trade. In fact it was asked of them many times if an experienced guy showed them their sheets, would they back them. They said no, they were not interested. The first guy that that did the combine on here who this thread is named after did not even know how to select the active contract month. The whole point of this is showing others what the process looks like.

Well then the word Combine is used incorrectly and a cause of confusion.

At the NFL combine, players don't go there to learn how to play footaball. They already know how to play it. They are looking for a team

So is the Combine used for scouting or teaching?

Perhaps I misunderstood what's going on here. I admit I skipped a chunk of posts in this thread. I saw that the combine was being offered to ET at large and wasn't aware that the offer was directed at a particular segment of ET.

I read every post so far and I don't believe you misunderstood anything.

Exactly.

I have said from the start of the multiple TST/Patak/Combine threads...all this talk is missing something...One must have an edge first. (i.e NFL Talent.) Otherwise doing a combine makes zero sense.

1. Have edge, not consistent? Try a combine over an extended period. Find your consistency. Trade your own funds.

2. Have no edge? Prop firm teaches tradeable edge. Try combine. Prove that you can execute under pressure. Get funding.

No edge will always mean an exercise in futility.

I challenge you to define edge...!

Or to give an example of an edge... you don't have to give up your edge to us... You can use an example of something that no longer works.

Dude, I traded for the most profitable group at Worldco in NY 10 years ago. At my peak I was clearing 50k a month. I then become a floor trader at the CBOT for Lawrence Bonfitto. I then spent 8 years at VTrader running an options book. Please stop lecturing us on who is and is not a trader on this thread. You are starting to sound like a fucking child now instead of a grown man ready to move on with his life. So now, MOVE ON!

Oh so you were the guy that was #1/#2 on the top 20 daily leaderboard.

I always wondered who was the guy making the $100k.

Fading your combine? I bet it still works.

Wouldn't be an edge...

Even the pros don't know what an edge is... They think they do but they don't.

EXAMPLES OF AN EDGE:...

1. HFT moving your computers closer to the CME/NYSE (whatever market) to get that extra split of a second ability to frontrun everyone's orders.

2. Having commissions so low that you can CREDIT TRADE if you pick an ECN that pays out higher than your commissions... Sit on the bid/offer and make the spread... The market pays you to trade...

3. Liquidity scanners that search the hidden ECNs... Access to invisible liquidity...

Let's face it... Edges are not available to retail traders, even the ones doing prop trading... Unless you're with a firm that invests in technology. AND most of the real straight up quant edges have disappeared from the markets.

I should probably shut up... I don't want to breach some contract rules that I signed about keeping my mouth shut.

hahaha, then wtf are you trying to trade futures when all the edge is in listed? Begs the question why, knowing what you know, do you continue to exhibit cognitive dissonance?

Because I no longer (in fact lots of us don't) have access to any of the hard edges...

To be fair... A lot of them aren't even there anymore... Markets adapt and change.

Can you name a prop firm with a quant edge that's hiring right now...?

EDIT: Just out of curiosity... Either way I'm done with trading... Naked trading ain't for me.
