Trend followers have an edge if they let winners run and cut losses
Top and bottom traders have an edge if you let winners run and cut losses
The fundamentals are the same small losses big wins
however trading from the edges of the market swing highs and swing lows or tops or bottoms offer a superior risk to reward than trend following due to a tighter stop placement on entry and also getting in at the turn of the trend.
we don't need to trade tops and bottoms in hindsight we can trade them in real time at the hard right edge of the chart.
the average trend follower is waiting for moving average crosses and indicators before getting in the contrarian reversal trader is trade what is happening at the edge of the chart
Im long aud usd at .7450 since may 9th I got in were most trend followers would be short and likely stopped out now and if it continues from here I know when all the trend followers would get in and by then everyone will look back and say there is the bottom and I have been in it from the start. I am not bragging just showing that this can be done and the trading literature today doesn't address this style of trading. its all trend followers and if thats the case my edge will be present with no problems

Do both, TRend Foll and tops/bottoms. Why? The latter gives you loads extra profit as you trade the countertrend moves while the T. followers are getting a heartattack during all drawdown corrections
