Conservatives Warning Against Politicizing Kennedy's Death, Did Just That For Reagan

Quote from OPTIONAL777:

Conservatives accusing Democrats of trying to reap political advantage from the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) are conveniently ignoring the politicization of former president Ronald Reagan's death by Republican more than four year's earlier.

Let me get this straight ...

Certain members of both major political parties continue to exhibit hypocritical behavior?

Shocking revelation.

The monetary and military cost in Afghanistan hurt them too imo

I am not disputing that. But just as if a Wall St. investment banker lost his 6-7 figure job, it is not the trips to Europe or private school for his kids that bankrupted him, it is that his salary went down substantially.

Idiot Chavez in Venezuela and Russia now got overextended on $140/barrel oil and are paying for it now.

Fair enough,I think both our points were it wasn't Reagan

Russia overextending themselves was not caused by any US president,The Afghan war was caused by Carter and it was more detrimental to Russia then anything Reagan did imo

you have no idea what you are talking about.

The military was taking 30% of russian GDP.

When the U.S started spending on a new upgraded military the Russian Generals had to admit they could not keep up.

This gave glasnost the opening it needed and the Pope ran with it in Poland and eastern europe.

Russia spent itself into the ground to be a competitive military power. Carter and the dems would have kept them there.

Reagan pounded them into the ground by making us stronger instead of weaker.

I was in college in D.C at the time taking glasses in international economics.

My professor literally wrote the briefing books that Congress got on russian military spending.

He predicted in his book what would happen as we increased spending on the military.

It unfolded as he predicted. It was an amazing piece of understanding.

Yes, US got a lot "stronger" with Tripling of the National Debt. Let me ask you, If Soviet Union stood for 10 more years what would be tangible harm to YOU?

N.B Cold War itself damaged US to a large degree. In fact, if not for cold war, Japan and South Korea would not rise up as high tech\manufacturing powers challenging US (While not exactly "high tech" US automobile industry is a shadow of what it used to be, as an example)

good god ...

Taking over 16% of the economy for Teddy's legacy is far cry from any of these examples ...

friggin marxist bastards ....

Last I remember revenues went up under Reagan. Spending should have been controlled. That is the one thing only idiots democrats and some republicans don't seem to understand.

However, I suspect you do understand.

If the ussr was still in power 10 years later I suspect there might still be millions suppressed by communism.
