Conservative is a dirty word

Quote from cgroupman:

Obama is the 'bankster' sellout? Didn't Bush start that. I know I said I'm trying to get past the 'blame Bush' scenario, but he's the one with the bailout. Also the 'Patriot Act' - what a name for big brother intrusion.

So much for being a centrist eh C?

How would you gather that I'm anything else from my last statement? I have posted that I'm trying to get past the democrats insistence on blaming Bush for everything. Perhaps I didn't convey that well enough, sorry.

Just pointing out that so much of the gov't intrusion in the last few years is not just a right left type of thing.

Quote from cgroupman:

You're asking for Obama to right the wrongs of Bush and crew. Pretty hard when the House said from day one they're only mission is to defeat Obama. I do agree with you in that I wish Obama would push a bit harder to repeal some of the R's fascist policies, as you say. Just saying it's not that easy apparently.

It's always amusing to see the excuses liberals make for their favorite party, the Democrats, while they hate on the nearly identical opposing party, the Republicans. The Democrats controlled the White House and both houses of congress for two years. In that time they made no attempt to roll back the fascist policies of the neocons, and the excuse that the Republicans didn't want to go along is irrelevant. After all, the Democrats rammed Obamacare through despite near universal opposition from the Republicans. The Patriot Act was not repealed because the fascist Democrats did not want it to be repealed. The TSA was not disbanded because the fascist Democrats did not want to disband it. Jumping into a war without congressional approval was an innovation of the current fascist, Obama. While it is true that no president has bothered to seek a proper declaration of war from congress since World War II, at least Bush did get congress to pass a law letting him (Bush) decide whether to have a war with Iraq.

Gotta agree that he is a liberal.

Actually I don't think Conservative is a bad thing or dirty word. I just have a problem with the GOPs now.

The GOPs have been taken over by right wing extremist hypocrites. It used to be a respected party under Reagan and even Bush Sr. Bush Jr. of course screwed it up and the likes of Murdoch are manipulating them to change into this selfish party.

I myself have some conservative values like I am conservative fiscally. However, I am liberal socially. One thing I can't stand is how the anti-abortion wing took over the party. That's all they rant about.

The GOPs now resort to a lot of dirty things such as voter suppression laws to get their way. It's just now not a respected party in my opinion. I will be voting for Obama again.

Weird argument, and same can be said for both sides if you are totally honest. Just switch the names. All the extremist terms like fascist are, well, extreme. But since you're willing to admit that both sides are responsible, I guess you must be a liberal as well.

As far as Mr. 377 goes. I hate to have to keep defining my basic persuasion, social liberal, yes, fiscal conservative, yes. I understand with all the polarization here on this board, that it is still hard to believe someone can actually be moderate. And, I think you're more moderate than you want others to believe. I may be wrong.

Well, I guess that makes two of us. So hard for the board to believe that people can actually think for themselves regarding politics.

You keep trying to pigeon hole me. Where do you place yourself? Are in favor of gov't intervention in the bedrooms and phone/internet lines? I'm not. Do you believe people should have the right to choose their religious beliefs? I do. Would you vote for a national flat tax? I would. Are you against abortion? I am.

Be careful with your answers, someone may just call you liberal, socially, fiscal conservative otherwise. Heaven forbid, the shame, the shame.

Quote from Tom B:

How could any fiscal conservative vote for Obama? Obama is the antithesis of fiscal conservatism.

Hello? Let's see who were the presidents that ran up the debt the most in this country. Nuff Said. Well, you don't want to talk about them. Do you?
