Yeah, I liked a few of his earlier movies as well. Although his moves in the fighting sequences were somewhat on the slow side. As for his later movies, he had little credibility wearing his man mumus to hide his growing girth. And, in retrospect, the fight sequences didn't approach the gritty in-your-face "realism" of, say, the Bourne movies or the Daniel Craig Bond flicks.
I have little doubt that the girl was telling the truth. I read that Seagal was a real jerk on movie sets, among other things even kicking stunt performers in the nuts for real to see if they were wearing cups:
