That words hear/heard, is really hard to understand in English language.
For example, everything is on the computer in the jobs. So for example your boss is saying to you "Did you hear back from the investment bank I ask you to e-mail?" Then I can answer what? I have to say "Yes, I hear back from them, or no I not hear back from them. So the boss is talking about to hear e-mail.
