In fairness, one congressman from California introduced this bill, and it is unlikely to go anywhere. I'm not sure of the details but the article mentioned military style armor, which I interpret as ceramic plates.

I wouldn't mind having some body armor, if only to wear to the range. You have no idea who is handling a weapon next to you. Ceramic plates will stop a rifle round, but they are expensive. I've never even seen them advertised, but I suppose there are places you can buy them. If you are worried about the time when TSHTF, they are probably a better thing to have than yet another trick 1911.

If you get into an armed confrontation with the police/military... they're going to have 10-20+ high-powered weapons on you... your single AR-15 or .308 isn't going to give you even a slim chance.

You can have home defense weapons, and hopefully those will allow you to prevail against 1 or 2 thieves/marauders... but not against government force. Shoot, the government nowdays sends 20-member SWAT teams to raid a suspected pot dealer or meth lab. What chance do you think you and your body armor would have?

Geez... I hate to think wearing body armor was a reasonable precaution to "conditions" anyplace in America.
