concentration in trading

was thinking about her hynotic stuff but wondered how much more benefit i could get after reading all her books plus it is very costly - may indulge myself once i become consistently consistent as a trader

i have recently started daytrading with real money. i have a particular system that provides consistent returns. however after a few successful trades, i sabotage myself by entering trades that did not fit the patterns and end up losing money at the end.

how can i increase my concentration and reduce my stupidy.

I had this thread in careers without realizing that this was the most appropriate location to post.
the fastest way to develop concentration is samatha meditation

This really works. I just started doing this. Imagine you're teaching a class on trading and talk out loud, not just thinking to yourself. Imagine all the students watching you intently as you describe the setup, the stop price, the expected target and why. You'll likely find yourself trading less, but in more productive trades.
And if you find that making presentations in front of an imaginary audience is somewhat unsettling, then it may help to imagine this imaginary audience to be wearing only their underwear. This, of course, may lead to a different type of distraction, but that's a topic for another thread.

Agree, I did both for a while as I was getting suspicious of the simulator. I did well scalping on sim - I got great fills. I didn't get the same fills live.

if your trading stocks, it depends a lot on the stock. but if you place your trade then wait about 7 seconds, watch the time and sales during this time and take the worst price printed during that 7 seconds. (assuming your stock is trading enough volume to give you several prints during this time). That will be very close to your actual price if you traded live.

if your trading futures like the ES then you only need to watch for the worst price for about 2 seconds after you place your trade.

this is what I have done and I find it to be very close to my live results.

if your using limit orders, then don't count the trade until you get a print that goes through your price.
