That strange 1.25 gig ram setup could be the issue if you have size, timing and manufactuturer different for those DIMMs. Maybe use your PC with only a couple of RAM slots with the same RAM size/timing and check for reliability on real world use and Memtest.

What did you do? I had problems with my new computer that came with McAfee when I tried to run my software. I removed the Mcafee and the problem went away.

PS--Was running McAfee too.

I ghosted back to a previous version, and am running smoother now....but am adding software & drivers slowly to see if I can isolate the problem.

Checked power supply to add up my wattage. Got 350w on my dell 8400...not great but it beats 250w and should do the job. I think I'm using about 220w currently, based on my config.

Hi guys,

Don't think that it is a permanant fix, think it's either my Macafee or something else that's running on my computer. It has happened twice now, but only during the morning session. Think that it might be something with my ram needing to be cleared. Just guessing, b/c after rebooting/restarting and only running the necessary programs, TWS, Quotetracker, and TWS Chat, it seems to be fine the rest of the day. Yeh, I know, not real tech savy here So, I'll keep an eye on it, and will post when the solution is found.

P.S. after you guys mentioned Macafee, my brother thinks it may have something to do with that. So will look there too.

Very rarely is a hard freeze (no bluescreen) caused by a software problem except perhaps a system driver issue. User applications (TWS, QT, etc) are unlikely to cause that symptom. If I had to hazzard I guess I would look at hardware problems or compatability issues with the new video card; RAM needed to be cleared (?!?) definitely would not cause this problem.
