Huge difference between when that was written and today.

Back then, immigrants came here and tried to assimilate themselves into AMERICAN culture..and actually learned to speak the fucking language.

Don't be so scairt, little boy. Cultures evolve, go with the flow, or die. In your case I prefer the... hehe.
