Compensation from IB

Because that is their issue and not mine. I pay them, not the exchange[/Q
It is your issue. Read your disclosure documents.. False disseminations or lack of dissemination by exchanges is part of the the trading risk., however rare.

The reason this is wrong is I spent 15 mins on the phone to support saying the issue was my fault.

He later back tracked and said we can now see the problem is not you.

During that 15 mins the stock kept dropping, with the right customer support something more/better could have been done during that time.

At Lightspeed, we posted a message to all clients as fast as we could.

Looking back how do you assess your responsibility for handling the situation?

it's a pretty open and shut case.

While IB support is talking to me they could be solving the issue and closing my position. instead he said the issue is my end, due to something I did not understand as his english was not great. When he finally worked out the issue was not my end the position was closed and I took the loss. During the time he took to work this out the stock dropped $3-$4

So I should have a plan of what to do when my account can not trade but the market is still open and my positions are still moving against me. The plan would be what?

The obvious: take the opposite position in another account. But it sounds like you think that is BS and you should be compensated. :banghead::banghead:

Sounds like trading is a hobby and not a serious endeavor, besides the $$$, which you do take seriously.

There is a lot more to trading than P/L in a few trades.

Anything with IB is never an open and shut case. It's all Clue.

Issue 1: My daily profit and loss was freezing and delayed for many days, so when I was trading it was causing me to lose money, until the point I had to stop trading until they fixed it.

Issue 2:

Friday 17th I had some open options positions, I had some calls for NVDA. The market turned and broke my point where I wanted to go short via some puts and close my long calls.

No trades where going through, I was stuck in the position. I tried and tired market orders to open my put and closed my call, yet they were not filling either. The stock kept dropping so my call was going down in value and my put that would have been going up on value was not open.

So I was losing a decent amount on both sides. I called IB as the stock kept dropping, after 15 mins someone answered. He was clueless and told me the issue is my end! I later found out the problem was not with me, but with the exchange etc.

Surely I am due some sort of compensation here? I trade daily, I pay $100s per day in commission.

Any thoughts please?
I know you said it was the exchange but my bet is your neighbor was using your wifi to watch porn.

It is open and shut. You will get nothing from IB. They don’t warranty their data. Nor does OPRA or the exchanges.
