Comparison of auto trading platforms

I've posted this question twice on the OQ forum, but got no response, so thought I'd try here.

Is there any way to create custom watchlists or otherwise automate stock selection for a particular strategy? As far as I can see, you have a single list of all stocks in the Instruments panel, and then must select each one individually. This really makes it a nonstarter for me, despite liking the program's other features.

I've also been trialing RightEdge, which isn't yet as developed as OQ, but shows promise - very open architecture, and very responsive designers. Unfortunately it doesn't do multiple strategies yet, though you can run multiple instances.

Mathemagician,

What platform do you use and what broker?

Thanks for sharing.
Tradestation (needs replacing) orders routed to Mirus Futures via NinjaTrader.

Am I reading this correctly that OpenQuant cannot automate more than 10 total trading models on a single symbol? This seems pretty unbelievable, and would make this platform a complete non-starter for me.

Who told you this?

That (mis?)information is contained in this thread.

Regardless where it came from, what really matters to me is whether or not it is true.

I applaud EliteTrader for allowing vendors to participate openly and address such issues. On other forums with less reasonable policies (and some rather short-sighted participants) we would be forced to rely on second-hand information.

anyone care to make further comments on the positives/negatives on AmiBroker?

Amibroker costs much cheaper than Neoticker/NinjaTrader/OQ....Does it come up short compared to the others?

tks

Of course it's not true. The number of simultaneousely running strategies is only limited by CPU power...

I've read this thread in great interest, and decided to try out I guess the top 2 choices
1. Ninja trader
2. Open Quant

Here's what I have noticed just from an outlook perspective.

It seems to be consistant with what is being said on the board that the Open Quant outlay is very pleasing to the eye... I like especially how the layout is exactly like Visual Studio, Ninja Trader seems to be just a Text Editor.

The documentation describing all the functions included in each package like what was said seems to be consistant. Ninja Trader's is included very well documented pdf file and it seems like everything is included. They've done a good job, however Open Quant sure has a very professional organization to it as you see all the classes, and then you can open up the classes and see all the properties / methods and such

I really haven't fooled around with an either so can't tell you in that department, but layout-wise, Open Quant is much nicer...

However, this is a big concern when you go to the open quant forums, I see several questions left unanswered, why????? I know that it was said that they had to utilize their resources else where during the past month, but c'mon you still have to answer people's questions

It will require a lot more programming on your end...
