My source was an editorial in the Toronto Star; apparently they misstated the actual content of the order, so that aspect on my post was wrong. Trump's intent, however, appears real, to target certain ethnic groups.
It might be noted that in 40 years not one death in the US was due to a terrorist act from anyone immigrating from those 7 countries. Meanwhile, a right wing fanatic in Quebec City who was a big fan of Trump decided to shoot up a Muslim gathering. While Trump can't be blamed for the act of a lone wolf delusional person, the aura of xenophobia and sometimes hate eminating from the US political scene these days is not healthy. Nor is the hatred existing online on this site and no doubt many others.
How about the hatred and violence seen in the US since the election? Mobs trying to disrupt the Inauguration? Attacking people physically for the crime of being Trump supporters? Shutting down airports, blocking road and bridges with no thought to what emergency vehicle they may be impeding? Unlike the supposed hate crimes against muslims, etc, these are real and documented.
