Commissions and day trading

Quote from Swan Noir:

Once you break 500 contracts per month you can start looking into electronic. Before that point don't even bother to spend the time investigating it.

He said 10/trade, 5 trades a day.

ECM requirements are avg 50 cts/day.

if trading ~1k RT per month, you can get ~$3.78 per RT. then you can apply membership to cut down your fees ~$1.40 per RT by paying $700/month for leasing a seat.

$3.78 - $1.40 = $2.38 + ($700/1k) = $3.08 per RT, thats about $3080 per month / ES ~250 ticks

10 ES contracts and 5 round turns a day. That's high enough for ECM - electronic clearing member. Go to CME website and look that up. You will get much better rates. Plus, you should check FCMs that can give you a better commission.

not to be the bearer of bad news but i believe if you are an exchange member (lease holders are considered members) you have to pay SE taxes which can negate a huge portion of any commissions saved
