Vliet has three books on Amazon.

1 on ATS design with C++ and Xtrader

1 on Modeling with VB.Net and databases - I've never heard of anyone doing this.

1 on Quality improvement for the System design process and implementation. No books quite like this.

Your thoughts?
 
I recommend the books of Van Vliet. He instructs @IIT and has had a hand in launching the careers of many individuals in the trading, and futures trading in particular, industry.

The notion of more books on trading than successful traders is rubbish. I personally know 100's of professional traders and there are 10 of thousands of them actively making their living.

Books provide tools. How you apply those tools is up to the individual.
 
No trader who understands the meaning of edge will recommend anything to other traders that provide an edge but only general information. General information is free in the web.

It doesn't seem as though he is selling any "edge".

He is selling an educational book, a foundation. He seems to be unbiased, introducing basic data structures, a basic guide, and outlines a few pitfalls of developing a system. As twoshepards said, he is simply providing tools.

And as Sergio77 said, general information is free. But Van Vliet does seem to compile some useful information that someone with limited programming skills might find useful.
