Comments on eSignal 7.x and above

I'm using eSignals charts and setting price and volume parameters with their Alert Settings( set to Audio alert ) to populate my Bon Trade order entry. A very nice tool

Jay,

that will work for me .... but will that increase my symbol count? If I set up a linked workspace with intra-day and daily charts, and use the symbol "ADI=N", will my symbol count be 1 or 2? I hope it is only 1.

Regards,

Slave2Market

I believe this would count toward two symbols. One for ADI=N and one for ADI. Just confirmed that... so yes, it does count as two symbols.

There are a few more integrated trading partners that have been released in the last month.

Carlin, Assent with Hammer, and Bon Trade all have released execution systems that work with eSignal.

Will esignal be updating the website with information related to this post?

Checked the esignal website and couldn't find anything on these companies using the search function and looking under downloads. Went to Carlin website and nothing about Esignal. Didn't check Assent, but Bon trade had an excellent demo of the interface, very nice but they don't support futures.

If you could supply me additional info or links I would take the time to review.

Thanks in advance.

I reposting in hopes of an update to my question.

Thanks in advance

Here's the ones I currently have. This should at least get you started. I'll check to see if we have the other partner pages up yet, and post my findings.

TonySanDiego,

I see what you are talking about on the s=n. I have forwarded it to the group and we'll fix this for 7.5.

There are some changes in the T&S window to filter on symbols using the =n in the 7.5 beta now also.

@eSignal

Well Chuck, I hope so this time.

We have been down this road before, with e-signal assuring me that this would be fixed.

Thanks,

S2M,

I know this is wanted by some, but we have decided not to add Regional Daily Charts to our product offering. On a positive note, in 7.5 when requesting a daily chart for a regional stock, the chart is redirected automatically to the underlying stock instead of saying No Data.

I am curious as to why you don't think NYSE only daily data is not extremely useful.

All it takes is one out of bounds tick on AMEX or an ECN to totally destroy a daily bar. I am surprised that there is not more of an uproar about this.

Any scans and backtests of daily data is effected, and I believe the problem is so pervasive as to render daily backtest and scans marginal at best.

I am ALMOST convinced that these are deliberately put in for that exact purpose, to foul up the scans and backtests of the great unwashed herd out here.

I would like to hear from others on this, how do you deal with it etc.

AND.. I want to hear why it has been dismissed by you folks at e-signal.

:(

Tony,

There are a few reasons we chose not to add regional daily data at this time.

1) We'll have no historical data, and would be starting to build this database from scratch. This would effectively negate any value for at least a year, and for many 5-10 years.

2) If we were to store daily regional data, we would do so for each regional exchange, and in doing so this would increase our daily database for NYSE symbols by seven fold.

REFCO Microsite:...

Just heard back on this. We are still fleshing out the marketing side of these new partnerships. Once that is completed, we'll update our eSignal Partners Page with the additional information, so please keep an eye or two peeled on that page for an update.

Thanks for the inquiry.

Jay,

I can't imagine why you would need to store regional data for all exchanges. The NYSE is the only exchange that provides relatively accurate quotes and that is why I and other Users want the daily data. The data integrity of all the other exchanges and ECNs is basically worthless, because they are full of bad ticks and late prints.

I'm glad that I will at least be able to view a daily chart with version 7.5, but it's extremely annoying that it will double my symbol count. The double symbol count problem basically makes it unusable, because I need to monitor more then 500 symbols, so this would be impossible with eSignal.

I'm always amazed that more Users don't complain about this problem, but I guess it just shows how many either aren't aware of it, or how few actually use the data for backtesting and system development purposes.
