Coming to terms with my feelings. Long, sorry.

Quote from Tsing Tao:

Dance the summer away, grasshopper. Never mind that winter is coming.
Winter is coming regardless. For you, your kids, everyone you know, everyone you love, everyone you hate. There is no immortality for you no matter what. Under any circumstances. Ever. Your face, your values, your innermost beliefs, the very essence of who you are, the man at the keyboard behind the Tsing Tao label, will die and be utterly forgotten.

That said, do we have cause to panic in the time we have left? No.

The climax of the thread....

Quote from Tsing Tao:

I will no longer buy what I can get for free. This doesn't mean larceny, of course, but it does mean thinks like movies and music. I've long supported buying originals instead of using the net to get it for free. No longer.

I "cut the cord" back in August. Cancelled my satellite TV.

Now I use my $19.95 per month broadband connection (6 Mbps down) my computer (via ethernet), my phone (via wireless router) and have a Roku box and a Boxee box both connected via ethernet. There is a 600 GB HDD lashed up to the Boxee box but I seldom have the need to own anything except music and a few obscure movies ("A Good Year" is a recent favorite). I subscribe to Netflix but most of the best stuff is free.

I'm watching Skyfall right now using the Navi-X repository via the Boxee box. :D

My reading lately is done from collections sourced from PirateBay (sweden site) torrent links with µTorrent, converted using Calibre E-book management and transfered via wireless to my phone's Calibre Companion client where I read the books using Cool Reader for Android. I'm working my way through the Vince Flynn books and have the Nelson DeMille and Lee Child collections ready to go.

I independently made an extremely similar set of decisions as you did which is why I keep going on about your post. Don't mean to seem like an fanboy TT.

I am anything but a grasshopper, and while I acknowledge that there is the possibility of social unrest and collapse of our society, I will not base my whole life around it. Should this happen, there will be many "real" warning sings. Just read a bit about various revolutions and dictatorships.

Quote from 377OHMS:

Excellent, then you can quit whining like an 11-year old girl and cease making moral judgments that nobody here is interested in.

Your surprise is due to your extreme naivety. Your English is atrocious and painful to decode and your opinion has the weight of a crack dealer in a back alley.

I guess when you have no other intelligent things to articulate, insults are all you have left.

You went first, remember?

Quote from RedDuke:

Do not make assumptions. You do know what this word consists off? :)

Nobody really expects anything or pretty much cares about what you do. Many of us just surprised about some, who willing to through their families overboard due their voting choice.

I merely responded in-kind as I always do. Just returning fire.

Whatever rocks your boat. Let's live and see who is right. For all our sake, I hope that my view is the correct one.

Best of luck to us all.

Quote from Tsing Tao:

So it is immature to suggest that Obama could go down the line of a dictator, eh? I'll bet if there were internet forums in the 1930s and 40s, we'd be able to pull up posts by your generational equivalent saying the exact thing about Hitler. "It is so immature to say Hitler is a dictator."

Can you imagine the history books explaining to today's youth that the Allies' biggest reason for retaliation against the Nazi regime was because of a program called "Hitler-care"?

Now, let's all have a good laugh, because that's some funny shit!
