Coming to terms with my feelings. Long, sorry.

Quote from Tsing Tao:

Just curious, but at what point do declining revenues and increasing debt/liabilities (or even interest rates) become an issue?
When your creditors begin to lose faith in your ability to pay. Which is different from their faith in your willingness to pay (in case you want to bring up the debt ceiling).

Say wha?????

You have heard of U-haul, right?

Quote from Ricter:

Yes, but keep in mind, I'm doing $15 trillion in business this year.

Okay.
I'm not.
Guess we can agree to disagree.
Even Obama claims he isn't okay with the 16 trillion dollar debt.
Me and Obama, we got a lot in common, huh?:p

Quote from Tsing Tao:

If women are stupid enough to believe the crap shoveled to them, then that's on them not Obama. You can't blame Obama for playing the game.

Obama simply told them the truth, which was under girded by a variety of members of the GOP.

Tsing, why don't you just admit that when this became a social fight, the GOP was fukked?

I told you this last summer.

Every politician probably has to say that, since the public thinks of economics in the same way they think of household finance. I imagine the debt the US government has held since he last time (the only time) it owed nothing has always looked huge, unpayable even, in terms of current income. That's where the debt to GDP ratio is a helpful metric. It does not excuse the debt, but it does put it in perspective.

Edit: and I agree to disagree as well. : )

Tsing,

Brilliant OP. A lot of us feel that way to an extent.

I live in Washington, DC, and thus have little choice but to associate with many of the vilest liberals you can imagine. You just have to learn to compartmentalize. Don't get into political discussions with them. It is pointless. Fly under their radar.

I was concerned about your comment about cutting off your immediate family. My advice is rise above it. They are your parents, not some dolts you work with. Gently try to change their minds, if possible, but don't abandon them over a silly vote that didn't change anything. As you noted, they have no real idea why they voted that way. It's noit like they decided to be evil.

If you do cut them off, you're handing a victory to all the liars in the media and the democrat hate machine that flood the airwaves with this propaganda.

Everything you say makes sense, but I cannot get myself to forgive them for their ignorance.

Imagine a president today, standing in front of the masses, and saying, Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country".
I'm just curious how the media would portray that guy.
