Comey fired after asking for more resources for Russia inquiry

Thanks for playing

At the May 8 hearing, Clapper said he wasn’t even aware of the FBI investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives until March 20. He then explained why he would not have known that when he was the director of national intelligence.

Clapper, May 8: When the intelligence community obtains information suggesting that a U.S. person is acting on behalf of a foreign power, the standard procedure is to share that information with the lead investigatory body, which of course is the FBI. The bureau then decides whether to look into that information and handles any ensuing investigation if there is one. Given its sensitivity, even the existence of a counterintelligence investigation’s closely held, including at the highest levels.

During my tenure as DNI, it was my practice to defer to the FBI director, both Director Mueller and then subsequently Director Comey, on whether, when and to what extent they would inform me about such investigations. This stems from the unique position of the FBI, which straddles both intelligence and law enforcement. And as a consequence, I was not aware of the counterintelligence investigation Director Comey first referred to during his testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee for Intelligence on the 20th of March, and that comports with my public statements."

Ok. So after a year, I think, into this investigation, they have found absolutely nothing....

But they stopped looking into Clinton's mess, even though there was much to be investigated....

It would be funny, but it is sad.

It would be funny, but it is sad.

First, it's not even a year of investigation.

Secondly, Watergate took over two years.

Third, there is no Clinton mess to investigate - if there were was then why hasn't Trump ordered Sessions to start an investigation. He lied just like he lied about Mexico paying for the wall.

But this is funny, it's in fact hilarious how he conned so many.

Days before he was fired, James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director, asked the Justice Department for a significant increase in resources for the bureau’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election, according to three congressional officials who were briefed on his request.

Mr. Comey asked for the resources last week from Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, who also wrote the Justice Department’s memo that was used to justify the firing of Mr. Comey this week, the officials said.

Mr. Comey then briefed members of Congress on the meeting in recent days, telling them about his meeting with Mr. Rosenstein, who is the most senior law enforcement official supervising the Russia investigation. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself because of his close ties to the Trump campaign and his undisclosed meetings with the Russian ambassador.

Now we know the real reason
Lol, the NY Slimes? Liberal propaganda rag.

Clapper is a liar. He was caught lying to congress.
National Intelligence Director Apologizes for Lying to Congress | US ...

You don't trust the doj. You do trust the fbi. (well, only now, probably not right after the election, lol)You seem to have the greatest respect for anonymous sources....

It's difficult to conclude anything other than that you only believe people who tell you what your itching little ears want to hear.

So it doesn't matter to you that he lied to you but he comes out winning is all that you care about? That's pretty pathetic

That's what the FBI is saying and Comey is invited to testify next Thursday, a lot of shit is going to be out in the open now.
Really?

Rubio: "Has the dismissal of Mr. Comey in any way impeded, interrupted, stopped, or negatively impacted any of the work, any of the investigations or any ongoing projects at the Federal Bureau of Investigation?"

McCabe: "There has been no effort to impede our investigation to date."
