College professors complain their jobs are being taken by online education.

I don’t think you can fight the online education bandwagon. It makes too much sense for a lot of different topics. Sure some will be hard to teach online, but I could see a lot of hybrid classes that have a part online and part real world component.

3 classes/semester. 2/semesters/ year would make for a salary of 120k/yr + benefits
not shabby for this kind of work. there is little preparation when you teach the same courses year in and year out.

again you are twisting the truth. i didn't reply to your comment that 20k is a low figure.

more over instead of looking for some facts you try to bs your way around it.

Six courses on a two semester contract would be a very heavy load for a tenured professor at a mainstream college or university.

OK looking ahead a bit but I think it may be possible to transfer large amounts of data into the human brain by electronic means. A decade or two away but will certainly take the grind out of learning.

Try a century or two away

Interesting… Online education does have some benefits though. For one thing it can be expanded to international students. Seems like if they marketed it right, professors might not need to lose jobs because each school might be able to get more students.

it will benefit the "superstars". ordinary and unknowns will lose out.

Online education is a good thing, a good idea, and worthwhile. Will it take the place of a better but much more expensive thing. No, not any more than increasing popularity of the efficient, useful, and low-cost Honda Civic will affect Ferrari Sales. There will always be Civics and Ferraris, or their equivalents, and we will never be confused as to which is which.

To hell with these useless professors. If they were so good they would be out in the real world getting a job instead of hiding in their ivory tower.

official salary-2.36M USD a year. and no one is complaining :p
