A university education has always been about teaching people theory rather than hands on skills. If companies don't like it, they need to stop recruiting from universities and recruit from community colleges and vocational schools instead.

That would be a lovely idea if it weren't for the fact the government seems intent on stomping out any form of private education with the kind of programs they are putting in thus removing any option for the companies.

Incidentally public programs are a reason behind the pricing of private schools etc. being so high leaving out on options for parents too.
