The Obama administration did designate Soleimani as a terrorist. The designation did not mean he was being targeted to be killed, as Trump ultimately targeted him.

Obama’s designation did put some restrictions on Soleimani’s ability to travel and conduct financial transactions and, according to experts, was part of a U.S. effort to pressure Iran to change its ways on terrorism. But the terrorist attacks that the United States blamed on Soleimani continued, and Obama did not take action against Soleimani beyond the designations.

No, after I conceded on board members' loose determination of what constitutes a terrorist; namely a treasury "designation" in financing counterinsurgencies & assassinations which we've done for decades, & I never argued against & the article linked only supports. So again I ask, if a treasury "designation" makes someone a terrorist worthy of getting bombed, why was POTUS seeking business in a laundering operation with them?

Soleimani was originally designated, as the government refers to it, by the U.S. Treasury Department in 2007 — under Bush — based on being commander of the Quds Force. At the same time, the Treasury designated the Quds Force for "providing material support to the Taliban and other terrorist organizations."

The U.S. Treasury Department designated him in May 2011 for his role as the commander of the Quds Force, "the primary conduit for Iran's support to the Syrian General Intelligence Directorate." The allegations had to do with Syrian protesters being killed by Syrian security forces.

The more serious move came in October 2011, when Treasury designated Soleimani again, saying he oversaw the Quds Force officers who plotted an attempt to assassinate Adel Al-Jubeir, the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States. The killing of the ambassador was to have taken place in a bombing at Cafe Milano in Washington, D.C., according to federal prosecutors.

Bottom line, by all definitions the cat was a terrorist. He conspired to kill our service men and women overseas along with many other innocent people for the last 20 plus years. He's evil incarnate imo. You can call him whatever you want H4.

I mean, I don't disagree the guy was asking for it and deserved it....I'm pretty sure I posted that as my 1st response on this board after finding out. The problem I have is the haphazardness of it, some people's killing may just trigger military conflict, it wasn't a calculated move and purely political on Trump's part. You know it, I know it, and painting it as a "patriotic" action is just ridiculous. They couldn't even get their stories straight and kept fumbling w/excuses.

Never mind the hypocrisy of it all....we got Gallagher walking a free man on a book long of excuses, and this guy getting blown to shit over alleged imminent actions (not his past transgressions).

FWIW: I'd consider Soleimani a war criminal. Unconventional warfare AKA terrorist acts is just the name of the game when you don't have pot to piss on when going against a giant.
