Colin Kaepernick Refuses to Stand During National Anthem

Kap was advised to kneel by a Green Beret..

Everyone else told him his kneel was specifically to dishonor the military and first responders. Since when did first responders get entitlement to the flag all of a sudden? Also, are we a military country now all of a sudden? Kap is not in the military and the NFL is just a football game.

BOYER: You know, this was two years ago, 2016 during the preseason. And he, you know, had sat on the bench. And I think it was actually his third time he'd sat on the bench. But it was the first time it had received national attention. And, you know, he got questioned about it, and he said, well, I'm not going to stand for the flag of a country that oppresses black people and people of color. And then he talked about, you know, social injustices and police brutality and why he thought, you know, he shouldn't be standing for the anthem.

And it struck a chord with me, of course, and it struck a chord with a lot of people - a lot of people in the veteran community as well - because obviously the flag and the anthem and what that stuff stands for means something, you know, very different to us. And I was pretty upset, you know, just because I felt like he didn't understand what those symbols really represent. And - but instead of letting my anger overwhelm me, I decided to relax a little bit, and I wrote this open letter that was just explaining my experiences, my relationship to the flag.

And Colin actually reached out, said he wanted to meet with me. And we sat in the lobby of the team hotel, discussed our situation, our different opinions and feelings about all this. And I suggested him taking a knee instead of sitting even though I wanted him to stand, and he wanted to sit. And it was, like, this compromise that we sort of came to. And that's where the kneeling began.

The compromise was to kneel because that's what soldiers do to honor their fallen comrades.

Kneeling was intended to be the exact opposite of insulting those who died serving this country.

To quote another poster "The Narratives are Changing"...

I expect that after Biden/Harris are installed in office.... suddenly we will see a change where disrespecting the flag or kneeling for the national anthem is suddenly viewed as taboo.

Of course police officers kneeling in front of BLM mobs will still be expected.

This was pretty much common knowledge to anyone who bothered to hear Colin's side of the story, but the cons would have none of it and drank the fox news kool aid instead.

At least GWB remained consistent and found storming the capitol and beating cops w/the flag disrespectful. Other cons who sneered at Kaepernick called them patriots.

Colin Crapernick is a fraud an a liar. Dude is a bad football player too.

the other cons found saluting the nazi flag or the confederate flag freedom of speech while kneeling to be disrespectful to the troops. They don’t care that the nazis and the south killed most of the American soldiers that Colin was “disrespecting”

This only became an issue when Trump brought it up in 2017 (coincidently the same week as his tax reform that did nothing for the individuals he promised).

IF he was any good at being a quarterback someone would of had him starting. But he sucked after being out of the NFL and he is now just a footnote in history as far as football is concerned.

nevahforget con cancel culture

Being terminated for your behavior on the job which undermines your employer is not "cancel culture". It does not matter if it involves offending tens of thousands of customers while on the job, or putting your fellow employees in danger while lying about your Covid status.

Kap did nothing illegal or in violation of any NFL or employer rules since players were allowed to kneel well after Kap was booted out. Kap was also not terminated so you should go back and read the story.

KAP was a free agent and San Fran and all the other teams decided to simply drop him out of the NFL together (hence his lawsuit where he sued for collusion and guess what.... NFL settled the suit).

SO yes... Kap was cancelled.. he was not terminated and his lawsuit showed he had a case which the NFL settled out rather than have their dirty laundry aired.
