Shortie, you a right to some degree, but you are also wrong. Only about 25% of correctly conducted CF experiments yield excess energy. Only about 5% yield significant excess energy.

So yes, cold fusion cannot be reliably demonstrated because we don't understand the mechanism which results in these successful experiments.

However, the 5% of successful experiments still prove that cold fusion is real even if it is not reliable.

You couldn't be further from the truth. Because of the stigma and controversy attached to Cold Fusion research, there basically isn't any funding for it. Most conservative research institutions will not fund it.

What your claiming is all these scientists spend their whole lives studying science and one day decide to conduct a CF experiment, fake the results and be ridiculed and never be taken seriously again, just to get their next round of funding.

If a scientist was going to do that, he would simply claim to invent a solar cell that was 3 times more efficient than current cells. He'd get all the funding he needed, without the stigma of CF research.

The reality is that people are reporting the results they get because they believe its important to publish what they observe.
