I think any news source can have this problem. It should be expected that a news outlet will release a bad story - like it should be expected that a trader lose money from time to time.

A legitimate news firm will have infrequent missteps and will respond appripriately when they do. I think CNN responded appropriately with a loud response and the firing of the three involved.

I'm sure you can think of many other "news outlets" that would not have done the same.

It should not be expected that a "news" outlet would be so overtly biased and release fake story after fake story.

CNN is responding in the way they are because they finally have no choice - they have reached the level where they need to do something to gain back the trust of the public and other organizations, or else they are toast.

I'm not about to go back during the last year or so any pull all the issues in stories CNN has had. I'm sure if you are willing to (I suspect you aren't) you would find the same issues I would. Further, were I to waste the time doing so, you would have a bunch of reasons why things should not be counted as fake, etc. or all the times CNN ran with a story that wasn't confirmed or verified and counted it as "news" (like the hilarious russian prostitute peeing thing).

All that matters to me is the continued tarnishing of the reputation of a network that continues to dig itself deeper into irrelevance. You can hold on indefinitely if you wish.

Well, I will admit to being surprised that CNN canned those responsible. However, I'll be shocked if someone doesn't hire them immediately. After all, they are respected "journalists." LOL

CNN. NYT, WaPost all now run democrat oppo research and fantasy stories as hard news. Then they bellyache over Russian fake news. Their big example of Russian fake news was supposedly the stories that Hillary had serious health issues. Any fool could see that she was suffering. Healthy people can walk up stairs and do not collapse on the sidewalk and get tossed into a van like a sack of potatoes.

Yeah i think Zucker is finally starting to realise that the Trump gravy train will end at some point, the young people who are currently watching to see them spin the russia fairy tale everynight dont typically watch the news, and once Trump is gone CNN will have completely destroyed their credibility with the old people who do tune in every night to watch the news, so they will be left fighting with MSNBC for the far left crowd that are the only people who still believe them.

Breitbart fired an editor, Katie McHugh, for a tweet that 99% of its readers would agree with regarding muslim terrorism.

NPR fired Juan Williams for saying that -to be honest- he felt uncomfortable when a bunch of muslims piled on to an airplane that he was on.

I wonder if they have found a token to take his place since then. Meanwhile he went over to fox where there is more diversity.
