Oh, get real. Income from television operations to fund salaries has been falling across the board for the past few years.

A University of Missouri Journalism School study estimates ANCHORS in the 25 biggest TV markets are making an average of $130,000 this year. But the overall average is $47,000, and most of the jobs are in small markets where the average is $26,000.

CNBC has a limited demographic, while almost everyone watches the local news. CNBC ad time is simply not that expensive, just recall some of their advertisers.

I think the top TV Hosts on CNBC may make a million a year once you consider their other revenue streams from being a niche personality.

Limited in numbers. Quite desirable in every other demographic. But yea I'd guess WNBC has more news viewers locally than CNBC has nationally........

News reader salaries are huge. Joe Kernan makes almost 3mil. Dan Rather was making 17mil per. Good friend of mine who has great skin and hair reads news in Denver and makes 1.35 doing it. I can only imagine what the locals in L.A. and NY make.

Exactly. I can understand people like Jay Leno getting paid in 7 to 8-digits or Hollywood A-list stars with broad appeal. But CNBC??? C'mon... Its average viewership is around 300k a day. That's nothing compared to real national TV. Are we talking about a bubble here?

BTW, isn't NBC Universal losing a shit load of money as a business unit of GE?

It's a no talent job. Why don't they pick up a couple of homeless guys, let them read the prompter for a baloney sandwich. He'd be warm, have something in his stomach, and a place to go. No one would know the difference.

But I'll bet, after a month or so, one bum would rise above the rest and cop an attitude.

The people on Bloomberg are class. Carol Masser comes off as a real professonal, as do the rest of the staff. And Deidra Bolton is hot=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t, especially with those rimless glasses. Whew! Need a shower. Be right back.

Even studio technicians make 2-4k a week.

With the exception of the big stars, entertainment does a good job of keeping their salaries out of the limelight.

Years ago my clerk left the stress of working for me and my blowouts to become an actor. He did ok for a while. (probably 30 credits and a mil in earnings over 15 years). The story that amazed me though was that of Skippy the neighbor kid on Family Ties. My ex-clerk knew the actor (Marc Price) from some L.A. comedy club and told me Price made $18,000 an episode. As you know Doc, 18 thou in 1985 dollars for playing some SUPER small part was kick ass money. I bet today a gig like that is 60-75k per show. That's why they're called stars.....
