You should figure out a way to short it. Hopefully that will make you feel better. It is no different than most other speculative investments. Either going to go up or down more than likely. The upside potential seems far greater than the downside potential based on its prior performance. You shouldn't worry so much about what other people deem a decent speculative play.
I tried to short it today ...there is an investment vehicle that "tracks" bitcoin...I put in a limit to short it but found out you can't short it...won't allow you to unless it's my broker.
If the futures get pushed through you will be ready to roll.

Exactly 1000% right....that's what cryptocurrency mega bulls are failing to understand....I have seen some cryptocurrencies with billions of coins like the Ripple....how many forks has bitcoin made so far and how many more forks are coming...one is scheduled to take place this month.
Later this year, when CME (probably Globex) launches this Future. Then you can go Short as much as you like (or dare..). Then put your money where your mouth is. Show us pictures of your short trades, and we will see who is right.
I don't trade futures so excuse my ignorance, but are these futures contracts backed by bitcoin? Or they are just being traded in reference to the CME bitcoin index price? In other words, if you trade these futures, is there any bitcoin hacking risk involved? What counter-party risk exists in these futures contracts?
These are cash-settled Futures. So (sadly) no real Bitcoins involved (other than that parties might hedge their Futures-positions with real Bitcoins, or visa-versa).
Miners might use them to lock-in profits for future productions.
