You are right and I am wrong, I am talking out of the buy side and the sell side of my mouth at the same time. Sorry for the misinformation.

Just get out of the damn things when you have a reasonable profit.

Alas, I remember this all too well.

All I had ever done to him up to that time was warn him that one day IV was going to skyrocket and that his selling naked LEAPS puts was going to lead to an unhappy result.

And to accuse me of not encouraging others to be better, safer, and wiser investors. Those are the things I do an as author, blogger, forum contributor. And from the responses I get, my readers are very satisfied with what I do.

There was never an apology from the monkey and I doubt there will be one now.

The good news for me is that I never see anything he posts, unless someone quotes it - as you just did. But it's very sad that he has decided to join this forum.

Since I quoted your words, it looks like you've learned something from the internet. It's a shame that you didn't try to learn more about options nor did you figure out that in a bear market you stop selling short puts. never take pennies for a credit spread to give back dollars at a later date.

It's not about being right or wrong. It's just about getting the right info from the person poisoning the question... errrrr, posing the question :)
 
I am obviously not a frequent contributor to ET & only occasionally pop in to read posts from time to time, hoping to pick up some valuable insights into how fellow traders see things and compare notes.

I am very disappointed to see such a great forum turn into what it is today. I hope it returns to it's glory days of sharing ideas, expressing opinions freely without bias & having respect for one another. Sadly, cannot see that happening anytime soon.

Forums like ET are far too valuable for option beginners & veterans alike to just let self destruct. :(

All forums everywhere on the Internet are like this. Don't let it ruin things for you. Maybe it's sort of like driving--because people are anonymous, they exhibit outrageous behaviors they would be embarassed to adopt if they had to show their names and faces.

Perhaps the best way to deal with rude people is to ignore them. After all, attention and reaction is usually what they crave. They did not get those things when they were in diapers and that is why they act as they do today (hmm, maybe I should be posting on the psych forum ;)

I actually thought it was the opposite.
They got too much attention as a child, and grew up spoiled and undisciplined.
Since they always got their way, and never had to learn to be civil or polite, they grew up to be rude and obnoxious.
Hey, where did you say that psy board was!
We may be off topic a bit, but its so nice here when the children are asleep.
