about 2 weeks ago, my account at IB dwindled down to like $1975. to place a trade, you need $2000. so i wrote a check for $50 to get back above $2000 and considered my next trade a hail mary trade. well, i did the trade today and lost like $200.

i really just don't have the money to continue. 0% of me wants to quit, but i just can't afford to send more money into my account, so i am for the time being, done. yes, i know a couple months ago i started a similar thread, but i found a way to get some more money, so i could keep at it a little longer. but now, i just don't know what the hell i can do.

i can already see the responses now from dbphoenix, nkhoi, elcubano, etc. i'm looking for sympathy, blah blah blah. i'm gonna state right now, i don't care what negative responses i get in this thread. i really just don't give a fuck.

that said, my (financial) life has made a new all time low today. i totally feel obliterated. i have put countless hours into trying to trade since 1999, i'm 25, and i have absolute NOTHING to show for it and i'm pissed. i'm gonna have to get a job and i'm probably going to get paid like minimum wage. who the hell is going to hire me when i haven't had a job in like 3 years? what am i going to say at interviews? "so what have you been doing the last 3 years?" "trying to trade, but i lost all my money." on top of that, i am going to be MISERABLE at some job. you people can have any opinion you want of me, but i am not someone who should get paid minimum wage, i don't care what anyone says. i'm gonna be miserable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

finally, i almost feel like the last few months i was really starting to understand the market. i may even have a profitable trading strategy but my account is just way too tiny to trade it. that's another thing that pisses me off. if i had an ok size account, i could maybe make at least what i'll make at some minimum wage job.

once again, i am NOT asking for help and i am NOT looking for sympathy. i'm just posting my current situation and it sucks.

To what do you attribute your lack of success?

Because I've been through all Gordon's "I'm a loser" threads. He's done. He needs to get a life. If when he grows up he decides to give it another shot, so be it. But to suggest that the best thing for him to do is take his money and go to Vegas to learn how to play poker is just about the looniest crap I've ever heard in my life, and there's always the possibility that he might actually listen to some of this nonsense.

He needs to talk to a professional counselor, not prompt a bunch of ludicrous advice from complete strangers on a frigging internet message board.

And that's why I'm SOOOOO negative.

so we all got it wrong but only YOU know what best for him?!? you must be a democrat too!
get off your soapbox and GG can make his own adult decisions, good or bad he is the one who has to live with them.

...although agree with your one point, i do recall seeing this thread before.

Think about it, a successfull trader makes more than doctor and attorney combined. They go to school for 8 years or more, maybe it takes that long to become successful at trading, not that many years in front of a screen, but that many years learning. You can work at something else and learn the markets, believe me.

just to be clear. i am not giving up. i am just FORCED to stop right now (can't place a trade at IB).
Who says you are FORCED? BULLSHIT!!! Get up off your ass and find a broker with a minimum opener, MyTrack comes to mind, it was $500 back when I started out trading pennys. Don't get mad, GET TO EVEN, then go beyond that. There is money to be made in the current market.

GG--in the five plus years I have been in the business, I have NEVER seen or heard of ANYONE who was in the position of "I have to make money" actually make it.
Don't go to a Prop shop with your remaining $2000...you will just be wasting more time and energy before the inevitable blow out.
If you can't tread water through some tough times (contrary to what you read on most of these threads....EVERYBODY HAS THEM), you just can't be successful in this business.
Get a "regular" job and put 100% of your energy into being great at that....who knows, it may lead to good things.:)

boo hoo hoo i'm forced to quit booh hoo hoo. shut up, get off your ass and learn to trade.
LongShot,

i never said i was QUITTING. i'm not quitting and will never. i just can't place a trade with IB right now, don't have money to add to the account, and even if i do add a little to it, my account is just too small FOR MY SKILL. i will be the first person to say a good trader could trade a small account and grow it. however, since i'm still no pro, it's gonna be tough for me to come back with only $2k. of course somehow i'm going to get some more money and trade again. i will keep coming back til i figure this out or die.

btw, does this quote look familiar? if so, you should know exactly what situation i'm in...

Cause when your money is gone (taxes, girlfriend/wife, bad trades, etc.).....IT IS GONE. I have been there and I know. If you don't know how to come back from that situation, you become really screwed.

I appreciate your honesty, GG. You'll figure it out, young man--time is on your side. :)

make the big commish for a few months, work 14 hour days if you have to, but really bust your ass and then you will have a stake again.
