Again, what fucking difference does it make? The question is not are we sufficiently concerned about africa. We have pissed away billions, probably more, on aid there over the years. It goes into a black hole of corruption and emerges in Swiss banks and high living government officials. Bush committed us to billions to address AIDs there. A little self control and responsibility would have made it unnecessary, but what's new.

The issue we face is we have a president who seems determined to transport ebola here. Certainly he hasn't done anything of substance to even begin to protect us. Ditto with the latin american invasion and the petri dishes of diseases they brought in.

The question everyone should be asking is, why wouldn't obama do everything he can to protect us? What possible grand ideas of his could be more important? Is this his idea of punishing us for our historic sins?

"Khan, a Sierra Leonean virologist credited with treating more than 100 Ebola victims, has been transferred to a treatment ward run by medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres, according to the statement released late on Tuesday by the president's office.

Health Minister Miatta Kargbo called Khan a national hero and said she would "do anything and everything in my power to ensure he survives".

Khan told Reuters in late June that he was worried about contracting Ebola. "I am afraid for my life, I must say, because I cherish my life," he said in an interview, showing no signs of ill health at the time.

"Health workers are prone to the disease because we are the first port of call for somebody who is sickened by disease. Even with the full protective clothing you put on, you are at risk."

Three days ago, three nurses working in the same Ebola treatment centre alongside Khan died from the disease."

Ebola has been discussed on this forum for years. Why are you all agitated about it now? Is it because until now the problem was "there"?

Maybe Obama should declare the US an Ebola Free Zone. We could put up signs with the Ebola virus and one of those no symbols over the top of it. I bet that would work.
 
What everyone thinking person is requesting... seal the border and quarantine people attempting to fly in from ebola impacted areas... and or just cancel flights like 2 dozen other countries....

How exactly are you going to go about sealing, all four borders? And how are you going to determine who's been where among those who are entering this country?

No slogans, no groupthink. How exactly are you going to do it?
