There are two issues that are getting confused. One is the danger from the parade of horribles climate change is supposed to wreak on us. This is, at best, highly speculative and not something companies should be worried about. The other threat comes from political responses to climate hysteria, eg obama's war on the energy sector. These can obviously destroy a company but are difficult to predict.
What the people like the NY AG who are pushing these investigations want is to force companies to somehow legitimize the junk science behind AGW by acting like the threat is a real danger. It is a slightly more sophisticated and less crude variation on the calls to prosecute "climate deniers."

Foreskin, you are claiming global warming is science. When scientists test theories, they say what WILL happen according to the theory. If a theory says something should happen, but it does not happen, then the theory is dis-proven.
