Climate risk could undermine investments, report warns

A report has warned that investors could be hit hard amid changes in short-term market swings, triggered by climate impact concerns.

University of Cambridge experts said global investment portfolios could see losses of up to 45%.

No investor was "immune from the risks posed by climate change", they added.

In a recent speech to the City, Bank of England Governor Mark Carney said climate change would "threaten financial resilience".

The report, Unhedgeable Risk: How Climate Change Sentiment Impacts Investment, was commissioned by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership (CISL) and the Investment Leaders Group.

How wonderfully leftist. The blood isn't dry in the streets of Paris and you're worried about the weather. Can you begin to fathom how utterly inane your concern is at this moment in time?

The utterly inane part of this thread is that the majority of the investment community look at "Climate Change" is something to take advantage of to enhance profits. Green companies entire upside guidance is driven by climate change. Hundreds of companies in many sectors have profits fueled by government climate research money. Even utilities are grabbing government grants to "go green". Insurance companies are now allowed to increase margins and profits to offset future potential "climate change" disasters with the blessing of liberal regulators. There are corporate profits to be found as every angle on the "climate change" scam.

From the perspective of investors, "climate change" in no way undermines their investments... the hysteria only serves to enhance their returns.

The deaths from global warming are going to make this last incident look like nothing.

By our continuing with business as usual we are terrorizing ourselves.

Henceforth all threads should be dedicated to a single topic along with the wholesale disparagement of a wide swath of people?

This thread was initially posted in the Trading forum because of the possible implications on investment portfolios as conducted by a study, along with concerns expressed by the governor of the Bank of England. That this thread was moved to P&R says more about the person who moved the thread than the thread itself. Consider who commissioned the report.

I agree.

I love reports that tell you what 'could' or 'might' happen. If you have a prediction to make, then make it and don't give this lame Clintonian language.

the only way we are going to feed as many people as this planet is birthing is with more CO2. If that makes the planet a bit warmer... that may be good overall as well.
