Shaviv's hypothesis is that the long-term slow changes in climate are caused by the entire solar system passing through the arms of the milky way. According to his hypothesis, this affects ionizing radiation that is responsible for cloud nucleation . Shaviv's Hypothesis is consistent with ice core data. His work is ongoing with particular emphasis on the mechanism of cloud formation.
