NASA is one the four most authoritative sources of climate information in the world.

NASA's scientific conclusions:

1. GLOBAL WARMING HAS SLOWED
2. IT IS A MYSTERY TO NASA WITH RESPECT TO WHY IT HAS SLOWED
3. TEMP IN TOP HALF OF WORLD'S OCEANS ARE NOT CLIMBING FAST ENOUGH TO ACCOUNT FOR STALLED AIR TEMPS
4. WARMING IN DEEP OCEAN IS NOT CAUSING SEA LEVEL RISE
5. WATER TEMP IN DEEP OCEAN HASN'T RISEN SINCE 2005

If you are not in total agreement with every single statement above, you have a problem with one the four most authoritative sources of climate information in the world.

94% of the earth's heat is in the oceans. The oceans are gaining heat ever faster without pause. Therefore the earth is still gaining heat without pause. What catastrophic predictions? What you think were predictions were not predictions by the climate science community as a whole but were guesses by individual scientists. Not the same thing. By 1980 the climate science community predicted global warming. They were right.

The data was adjusted to make it more accurate. To adjust for the urban heat island effect. If you knew the details of what and why they did it you would understand and what they did makes sense. But all you know is what some hit piece on Breitbarf says about it. And how do you know the old data set was not retained? Seems unlikely.

I spent a couple of years in the military working in the weather field. I'm fully aware of urban heat islands. The problem with the adjustments is that the oldest years' data were adjusted downward and the newest years' data has the temperature adjusted upward. The urban heat island effect has increased, not diminished, over the years. These adjustments amplify the effect of urban heat islands, not reduce them.

As far as data being destroyed, there's a letter from GISS in response to a Congressional inquiry that states the data was destroyed due to lack of storage space. And on the UK Met/CRU websites, if you look hard enough, you'll find the same statements ... they could not save the raw data due to lack of storage space.
