I don't know, most people don't trade the short side, but yes the middle class gets it the worst since the dollars mean more. About $3K for a house making $60K I think. That's a lot of cabbage for those people.
Myself I think there's a lot of pent-up bullishness that will be released after this fiscal cliff clown show.
Of course I think it's more an artifact of all the monetary manipulation than economic growth of goods and services.

Obama is playing hardball already.
The DNC spin machine is waiting to go over the cliff. Maddow, Matthews, et al. already have material for the attack. If you look at the media machines and how they work, it is O'Donnell who floats the trial balloon. He said we should go over the cliff about two weeks ago. M&M then takes up the message, and Big Eddie hammers it home. They are also mic checked by WashPo, HuffPo, CNN, and 60 Minutes.
On the other side, Hannity and Coulter are having a marital spat on air at FOX. Rush is indecisive on the radio, and GB is taking his church and going underground. This is all bad for the GOP. Now they are also in the position of having to fight a war on two media fronts with Sandy Hook and everything.
Boehner is fukked. If he makes a deal with the President he will not only get fired from majority whip, he will face a primary challenge in 2014. He knows that.
OTOH, if we go over the cliff, the GOP might get swept in 2014. I think they should think big picture, make the deal, and beat the moderate drum as hard as they can. We are going to double dip from the growing pains behind the ACA anyways, so if the GOP plays it right, they can hold serve in 2014 and be in a good position to take down Hillary in 2016. That is if Christie runs this time.
But, the Tea Party tail is still wagging the GOP dog, it looks like.

the markets will have a safety net, but people won't, I want to see middle class reaction to Obamacare and automatic tax increases from expiration of Bush's cuts. Democrats are overestimating if they think that doesn't mean anything and republicans get all the blame.
I think ES today will be down, unwinding of some risk before christmas.
But after that, who knows. It will be QE versus shitty economy. Ben probably wins for a while.
