dont you worry - i have travelled and seen more of the world than 95% of the worlds population believe me - including a lot of the us.
nowhere is perfect, but if the us (and eu) tried a little harder, the majority of the world would have food and a place to sleep too.
I think thoughts like this deserve a nomination for some type of "Robin Hood" award. A la Chavez....

That is a philosiphical difference between you and most Americans. Most Americans have no problem donating personally. However, we do have a problem with a government, ours or another, or the UN telling us that we need to raise our taxes to pay for the poor nations of the world. Thats total bogus and derived completly from yours and others like you who are guilty over the success that the western world has achieved. My sugestions is to enjoy the success you and your contry has earned and if if you feel like you personally need to help out then donate to a good cause but don't tell everyone else in the US and EU that we need to bring poor countries out of poverty. Let them do it themselves if they want to. We can only provide the initial push after that they need to decide for themselves if they are willing to work hard enough to catch up to the US and EU. Their are fundemental diferences in cultures and some provide a fertile atmoshphere for econimic success whereas others do not. Econimic succes is also greatly determined by the government and the policies that it sets. The US embraces capitalism for the rewards and at the same time accepts the negative consequences. Each country/nation needs to decide for themselves where they fit and embrace the positive and negative consequences. Another huge facor in the US rise is the concept and legal systems that allow strong property rights. Granted these are slowly being eroded by the left but hopefully this will change or else we face yet another factor that decreases our econimic edge.
Instead of hating the US perhaps others should strive to be more like the US if they want the same econimic benefits the US enjoys. If not then they should stop bitcing about it.

its not about the feet on the street working harder.
its about debt relief to african nations
its about agriculture policy so afghans dont have to grow the poppy that will kill your kids
its about feeding the starving with the eu food mountains
its about western civilization throwing away 60% of all the food it produces while others starve
its about lowering profits by international drug companies to those in the 3rd world to fight aids, bird flu etc.
did you know that 1000 women die every day in the 3rd world from giving birth? these deaths are all preventable with facilities we take for granted in the west.
the fact is, that if the 3rd world was more healthy and prosperous, the west would be more wealthy too. we would have a bigger market to sell into, and more competition.
morons dont see it this way though.

you are right. charity is NOT the answer. countries/3rd world should be taught to stand on their own 2 feet.
what is not right though is OPRESSION. and that is one thing the west - esp america does very well.
take the american stance on spraying coca crop in s. america. what good does that do?
it destroys only 10% of coca production.
the coca crop grows back within 6 months
it is detrimental to the health of the farmers (who are not the traffickers or dealers - its just a cash crop to them)
it damages the soil so NO OTHER crop can grow for 3 years, meaning that the farmers have no choice BUT to grow more coca.
the usa refuses to give debt relief to these countries so other industries can develop.
coca is where cocaine comes from for those who dont know.
this is just ONE example of BACKWARD american policy shooting itself in the foot - it tries to stop coca production, but instead it increases it.
iraq is another case in point.
no wmd's as monkey man knew.
loads of oil though - so lets roll in the tanks, destroy the country and refine the oil for them.
iraq is going to take YEARS to recover. a prosperous wealthy nation DESTROYED by american greed. i would like to include the uk in that - but the yanks have shafted the uk and kept all the business for themselves.
so in short, let them stand on their own 2 feet - but fgs, dont STOP them from doing so - BECAUSE THE END RESULT IS HIGHER TAXES FOR THE US CITIZEN AS IT PAYS FOR WARS AND OTHER DESTRUCTIVE ISSUES SUCH AS A HIGHER CRIME AND HEALTH BILLS FROM THE DRUGS TRADE, ADDICTS ETC

so you think the usa can export more to poor countries than rich ones do you!? thats an interesting concept.
have a think about this one - who buys more american goods - tiny switzerland, or massive (in comparrison) ethiopia? hmm - hard one that!
like i said - donations are not the answer. its just a side line to look like the usa is doing something, when in reality it is just making the situation worse.
whats the point in giving a million dollars to some african country, if the government is just going to spend it on weapons, not food or infrastructure?
