No need to execute, they can be held in prison without possibility of parole.
There is a perfect system, actually.
It is a system based on the golden rule.
Do unto others.
Murderers almost always want to live. If they don't want to live, let them drink hemlock....
If you murdered someone in a fit of rage....would you want to be put to death?
If you murdered someone due to a compulsion, you heard voices that said "Kill my mother and father"....and the prison psychiatrists discovered you were able to be in control of the voices in your head with a new medication, the voices went away for you...would you want to be put to death?
We need to protect society, that's what being separated from society by going to prison does, especially solitary confinement.
Why does society need to "punish" then?
To reform? If it is to reform, to be made "new" to help the prisoner think about his wrong doing in order to reform to re-enter society?
Or is it to play out a Biblical or Koran style mentality, where we must exact a revenge, an eye for an eye in order to satisfy our religious beliefs?
Or do we kill these people because they are "evil" and we must kill "evil"..... we must not let "evil" live?
Or do we act in a more evolved manner even toward those who acted in a barbaric fashion that took away a life, with compassion, with forgiveness, with the evolved qualities of a civilized society where all life, even the life of a murderer is considered worth preserving because life is given by God, and should only be taken by God?
Quote from jonnysharp:
let me pose a scenerio to you;
-you live in a small town of 100 people.
-this town is self suficient espically in regards to tax earning & tax spending.
-1 person in your town killed 3 people in your town.
-he is found guilty by the jury.
-you are the towns judge and have to assign him punishement/solution.
what would you do;
a) keep him in prision for the rest of his life?
b) pay one of your towns workers to reabilitate him and re-release him into the community with a chance to kill again?
c) execute him?
d) other?
zzzzzzz, you seem to naturally take the opposing side of mainstream views and yet offer no alternative solutions. could i hear one please thats supported by facts?
and remember theres no such thing as a perfect system (that regards morals, economics and politics each in the highest favour) only one that works....
