Clearing Firms

One thing I've noticed here at ET, is there is occasional discussion about which clearing firm a broker uses, but there does not seem to be any indications that one clearing firm is better than another.

I'm not sure how much of a difference there can be, if one is trading electronic markets. But, does anybody know what differences there are?

The differences that I have come across are merely cosmetic. None the less, even though most of our business is DVP, the hedge funds that we deal with want to know that there is a clearing firm behind our BD that has a strong name and reputation.
