CL Redux

Just a few quick thoughts before the Lakers/Knicks game. :)

When I look back now at today's chart and look at my trades I see the trade I entered @97.52 wasn't as bad as I made it sound. Looking back I see that even an hour after my exit it was trading below my exit. So who knows where it might head next? It could retest and penetrate that low for all I know. As it turned out about an hour after my buy it did start to move up and if I had held it till the end of the day I would have made about $1500, so that would have been nice. But it wasn't maybe as obvious as I made it sound at first.

But I did think about next week if I do buy one of those steep selloffs early or short a steep spike up blow off top, to put my stop in and turn my computer off for an hour and look back then and see what it's done. Or just don't look at the trade and just do something else. Maybe put a $1000 profit target sell or cover in. This would be an exercise for me to be more patient and let the trade develop. Occasionally I do that. Just not often enough maybe. Just some thoughts.

Have a great weekend everyone. :)

Just bought the blu-ray disc for "Trading Places" which I haven't seen in quite some time. Funny movie. Remember Clarence Beaks? :D

Just for the record I posted a video about Clarence Beeks from Trading Places. Remember him? The frozen orange juice guy. This was removed. This action is too serious in my book which I responded to in a PM. I guess a little social interaction and humor is not allowed here on ET even on the weekends when the markets are closed. Perhaps life is only about CL charts. I'm having second thoughts about posting more.

Hmm. Strange. Mine was not removed.
I don't mind colorful threads, may be if you don't embed it just post the link, and if someone does not want to click on it does not click on it.

May be it is SOPA related...

Just to further clarify this, the movie "Trading Places" is a comedy staring Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy about commodity trading among other things. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trading_Places This thread obviously is about commodity trading. And the movie is funny. We work all week at this and it can be a stressful situation with all that's involved and all many of us have been through to get to this point. Seems that a little levity is not out of place. The about 5 minute video I embedded is about the bad guy in the film who is providing insider information on the frozen orange juice report.

Now I also posted a comment about Al Franken who is now a Senator and played a baggage handler in the movie and link to a picture of Jamie Lee Curtis who plays a good hearted hooker who takes one of the characters in to help him out when things are going badly. And the picture was of her topless with the comment about what a great body she had in those days and I hadn't seen this before as I guess I only saw the TV versions. Harmless enough to my mind.

And finally I posted a short clip from "The Natural" as I just bought this movie and baseball season is coming up and I was going to watch that one last night.

This to me is just a little light hearted social interaction with the people I hang out with here day after day for hours. And it's on the weekend when the market is closed. What's wrong with that?

While these posts don't relate directly to trading crude oil, to my mind if you restrict all of the posts to just that it takes the life out of the forum and maybe takes my interest out of posting here. I don't really need to post here. In fact a lot of times I miss good setups by being distracted posting here. So well see. I don't think it's appropriate for people to get into back and forth topics like politics or religion or other issues that don't relate to the forum they're posted in. I get that. But an occasional post of something presented in a light hearted way which would offend no normal person presented to provide a reason to smile shouldn't be a problem to my mind. My 2 cents.

I was around and not offended. Your right very hot. If you posted a pic of venus de milo I'm sure they would not have removed it...I guess only in chit chat can you post tasteful nudes.
Volente decided to do his trading in chit chat for that reason...agree that over the weekend some off topic chat should be ok even in trading journals/forums.

BREAKING

Greek government gets majority on vote: Sky

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Greece's parliament early Monday ratified the austerity measures demanded last week by Eurozone finance ministers in return for fresh financial aid, according to reports. Violence broke out in Greece ahead of the vote on the bill which contains 3.3 billion euros ($4.35 billion) in wage, pension and job cuts this year, according to a Reuters report.

Will this be a big rally or sell the news? :)

ADD: DX is selling off obviously.
