CL Redux

do you have some good books on this subject (sports psych) to recommend?

Quote from lurefo:

Most of the best traders in the world have written on the subject and they disagree with you. Unless your strategy is 100% automated, trading is all about psychology.

Even with the best money management techniques and a solid trading stategy, 90% of the traders will screw up. You know why? because our actions are driven by our emotions and our state of mind wether you are aware of it or not.

Your car analogy is bad because of the above. A car does not think. A car doesn't have emotions. It doesn't get mad and do stupid things. If you want a good analogy, take professional athletes. If you have done any competition, you know techniques don't make the difference. But psychology does.

I guess the bear spreading is back, does the behavior of these nearby spreads affect your decision making in here as it affects your day trades?

[edit] I see a few names I recognize from the ES Journal. Good to see you here.

No body here knows me but I trade the QM.

I have been Long [QM] since 5-19-10 at 70.00 and will exit at 79.75.

Obviously this thing is going to play out with the global macro developments. Pre holiday week should provide some additional upward preasure if things develop positive accross the risk spectrum of asset classes.

Quote from trader198:

"trading in the zone" is not a good book for beginners even for professionals. I will not suggest this book. since I have a bad experience with it. after I read it, I felt "I can do trading" (walk barefeet on hot coals), man, I get burned hard immediately. I trashed it.

trading is not psycholgy. good performance comes from good money management, detailed trading plan and competent expertise in tape reading, trend finding/following, turning point timing. there is no such thing as psychology. a non-sense book.

What an idiotic post......you obviously have NO CLUE !

Guys and gals, first of all, enjoy your stay here. Second, I encourage you to skip to the top and read the first post regarding the rules of engagement.

Just to recap:
  • No heckling, preaching, or condescension of any sort. If you have a problem with anyone in particular, use the PM feature.
  • All trades MUST be posted in real time with corresponding stops (especially if you will not be physically present to post your exit).

For more details, visit the first page. Thanks for your consideration and post on!

Quiet here today.

How have you all done?

I've had my best day in ages (still on SIM though dont forget)

I was actually gonna stop for a few weeks and take a breather because I tend to be getting beaten up everyday! Although today has encouraged me again.

How would you describe todays action? Has it been choppy in your opinions? trendy?

Has is been a particularly easy day where anyone could have made a few shackles?? I want to know how i was able to catch all of the turns today but have been getting killed everyday for about 2 weeks. Literally 15 trades per day, 14 losers! lol

thanks God its only SIM money this past fortnight
