CL Redux

Quote from oraclewizard77:

if not its better to take the stop since if it reverses right where you get in, it can go 30 ticks or more against you pretty quickly.

Oh lord did I learn that lesson (again and again) when I first started with CL.

But now thats what I like about CL, you find out real fast if your entry was correct or incorrect.

Well I see somebody was having fun.. I went to play nine holes and have some beers and now I see my buy limit got filled at 80.20. Sorry I wasn't here to post it but it was just a cover at what was S3 no rocket science. Now i'm slightly long with that crappy may 82 call. I have a limit order to sell 1 QM at 80.55 which would make me neutral again. Have a good night

Now I just need to not chase, only wait for perfect setups on cl, and have a stop and not move it farther away hoping it will not get filled.
It's been my observation since making the transition to CL that this damn beast really likes to gun stops. Here, I'm not talking about just a minor flip-flop back and forth across the pivot. Unlike the classic "head fake" we were taught in trading 101, the thrust is so deep that you initially think it's the real deal. But then it suddenly reverses equally hard. Coming from ES, this kind of price moves were somewhat new to me since you don't often see such dramatic moves in ES.

Now I'm on a quest to find out just where these hucksters will apply the damn brake to their stop hunting.

sometimes, I find it hard to even post and trade at the same time. To become distracted by other non-related events (be it non-trading tasks or simply trading more than one instrument) would totally throw me off. As I already said countless times, it's better that you become a specialist than to become the jack-of-all-trades who moonlights as a master-of-none.

Anyway, there's no need to rush. Opportunities abound every day. But if you plan to trade live tomorrow, I suggest you go easy with perhaps 1 lot at a time.

Yes it's very difficult to post quickly because CL tends to move quickly and I often can move stop to b/e pretty quick, so it takes a minute or so before I post. The reason I was posting my sim trades here previously was to keep me honest, with stops in place for the record.

In past months I was sim trading some average down strategies and although profitable almost every time, I didn't like it. I thought it was a bad habit to get into prior to trading live. It made me lazy and sloppy. I wanted to be a disciplined, technically proficient trader. It's too easy to start thinking, "Oh I don't need a stop because price will definitely come back at some point." Posting here ensured that I wasn't profiting by playing games that I'd only play in sim anyway.

Schiz, you don't realize what a positive influence you've had for me posting your trades here. You are a professional, man. You demonstrate what it means to be technically proficient and disciplined. You never let previous trades influence you, you just take every signal as a brand new opportunity, you butter the bread on either side, knowing it tastes delicious either way as long as it doesn't fall buttered-side down. If you churn too much, you take a break and come right back.

I hope other noobs realize what a resource they have here.

Much of the order management can be set to auto by most chart packages like Ninja Trader if u have a standard place to move up your stop.

Once u go live, feel free to post a few trades, it does not need to be exactly when u take them, and I will review what u did. After that you can stop if u don't like posting.

You may be a mod ,but you definitely have no business advising anyone on trading CL. I think this mod thing has gone to your head turbo.

I appreciate the compliment and I'm equally happy that my posts are found useful.

Howdy Oracle, it's awfully nice to see you here. Before you proceed, I ask you to review the posting rules I set forth on the first page of this thread (or click here.) As stated, I do expect everyone to post their trades in REALTIME. Should you wish to post your own trades, I ask that you abide by these rules. Thanks for your consideration.

Greetings to jaju and Rowdy. I don't think we've ever crossed each others' path. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that one of the written rules for this thread is that personal attacks are forbidden. Again, please refer to the rules stated on the first page.
