CL Redux

like I said, did not understand what I was seeing. CL gapped down, NG gapped up... markets aren't supposed to be open. But with the way governments make their own market rules on the fly these days, I'd believe anything about now.

price action was illiquid wild... zipped up & down 30 - 40 cents faster than you could watch on the dome. No idea what that was all about, some type of settlement or offset I figured. Don't really care as it'll swing all around next week as usual, and we'll wrest our fat profits out of there regardless all else :)

As I understand it, Globex is closed on Saturday. So how it this even possible? Anyway, my personal opinion based on pure TA is that this market is poised to go down next week.

Not sure what I saw today, but when updating NT charts build the CL was trading live (far as I could tell) for about an hour. Gapped down to 80 > 79.50 zone

Either my ninja platform got confused about daylight savings time, or someone rallied the USD = sold CL earlier today

That's bad data, I saw it a couple of times in previous weeks and called about it. Globex/NYMEX runs bogus test data on weekends if they're testing their servers which they do during a clock change.

Thanks for getting me excited though :)

I just fired up my IQFeed connection, and didn't see any trades today. I'm really thinking that's a data error on ZF's side.

Actually, I don't think ZF provides historical data... doesn't historical data come from Ninja? That's why I use IQFeed, for quality historical data.

now that CL is my go-to market and eminis secondary, ponied up the $55 monthly for TradeStation live feeds. Didn't think to verify over there... when I open the charts Monday morning, wherever the market is will be where I start from there :)

Speaking of historical data, can you post a 2-year continuous chart from IQ please?

you know the rule on those fat-finger events: market always trades back to test the outlier extremes. Maybe that's an omen for Monday ahead of the fomc blather. Cross your fingers <grin>

I wish bogus machine generated data on Saturday qualified as a fat-finger event! But you're right, it's uncanny how those spikes get retested.

I'll try to find the Globex bulletin at CME, they usually warn if they're going to transmit fake data for a server test.

Looks like it's in all products, they show the ES trading up +3 at 1154 which is nonsense on a Saturday.

Anyone have any thoughts on the divergence on the the market on Friday? USD sold off, equities was flat/higher, and somehow hard commodities dropped.

I would have thought CL would have maintained it's gains given that ES and EC had made intraweek highs.
