CL Redux

Quote from Gabfly1:

Judging by the lack of acknowledgement or response, I gather that's a big negatory?

I'm not posting my calls today, but I'll post my blotter end of day.

I must say I'm rather impressed with the relatively high frequency of trading some of you engage in, judging by the number of your calls during any given day. Do you ever post blotters to reflect these trade calls?

Howdy,

First, welcome aboard. Second, what exactly is your purpose here? Are you here to learn from others or merely verify what others are making?

I personally find no value in blotters. I've said this yesterday and countless times before. Just what can you glean from a mere number? On the other hand, when another trader posts one's trades in REALTIME, I can see a lot of things. It also makes me question why a trade was made at that particular price, which i hope in the end will make me a better trader.

That is my goal for starting this thread. It was never created as a place to show one's bragging rights.

(So what if he makes $1,000 and she makes $5,000 while yet another makes $10,000? If I have no clue as to HOW they do it, it means nothing.)

excellent point. If I post the real time trade, I feel someone is policing me. that is really good to do discipline drills. I am struggling with hard stop, and afraid I may lose focus on trading, so not ready for real time trade post. I wish I could do since I want to someone observe my trading, so I can do better.

My natural skepticism, I suppose. (Forgive me.) I post neither trades nor blotters. But since you're already posting one, I don't see the harm in posting the other. If anything, I'd be more circumspect about posting my calls rather than a blotter because I'm rather reserved about sharing such details. Further, I don't trade anywhere near as frequently as you gents do, and I think it's rather Herculean to be posting immediately after entry and also during the course of a very short term trade, especially in CL, which I don't presently trade. However, that may be a reflection of my own limitations.

As a born-again cynic, I can readily understand your skepticism. But note that even if one was paper trading, it would be extremely difficult to do it successfully for any length of time since CL is so volatile. Well, unless you're one of those less than 1-minute scalper. I usually ignore those trades. But if you hold your trades for longer than, say, 5- to 10-minutes at a stretch, it would be nearly impossible to fool anyone. So you can rest assured that what you see is a real thing.

But then again, that shouldn't distract you from the real purpose of this thread, which is to help each other become better traders. Alright, enough said.
