Chrysler pulled the plug on leasing

I would have to agree.....the V-8 power and SUV/truck bias of this company over the past years was not good.

The implications are that Chrysler will take a gigantic hit on booked revenues. It's got to do something with major problems in their Financial arm. There can't be any other reason for this.
 
I think it's because they figured out they are going to take a huge hit because of the calculated high residuals on the new mini-van which aren't jiving with reality. I remember reading when the new one came out they were touting a REAL high residual (I though to myself "yeah right") In the past the market told them to include a LOW residual when calculating lease payments, but for some reason they thought the new minivan was so good they calculated a high residual value. However, the market is saying otherwise.

Why is leasing thought of so highly in the US car industry? Maybe it's the reliance on such that have driven the US car makers to such dire straights. I don't seem to quickly think of Toyota whenever the term car lease comes up. I wonder why?
