I initially experimented with chromebook by buying a budget model, I now have 3 chromebooks.
I like it, no longer Microsoft issues.
Advantages. Quick boot up, hassle free, great software, cloud based - data is uploaded to cloud rather than HDD/SSD, Android, but the main purpose is it suits the style in which I write and create algos.
Having stuff on cloud is ideal when you want to share data, ie you are training someone.
Also can be used for communication rather than email or Txt messages or WhatApp etc.
Free and hasslefree updates, free Word and Spreadsheets updated free.

Mickey, just "factory reset" the damn thing. Everything gets reset back to the original configuration. This in no way affects your cloud applications though, which are stored on Google cloud.

Didn't need to, it fixed itself.
It wasn't the laptop as the same issue was on my other two laptops.
I did initially think it was tied to the updates.
Anyhow, whatever it was, all fixed now but still not sure exactly what was going on.
 
I like immutable, sandboxed OS design like in ChromeOS. I just don't get why folks agree to look at the crappiest screens on the market at the prices they charge you. For the price of a half-way decent Chromebook one could get 2 used laptops with a nice screen and 8th Gen Intel chip for upgradability -/- continuity if you run Windows. Even more so if you run UNIX/Linux or some other OS,
