In my opinion the NRA deserves it. What a bunch of idiots to suggest that we need armed guards at schools? You do realize that 99.9999% of them will be doing nothing but sitting on their asses, drinking coffee, and eating donuts. In about 6 months after taking that job they will be so fat and out of shape that they wouldn't be able to stop a damn thing. If a school shooting were to happen they would be the first to get shot because they are such big targets.

Not all republicans want armed guards in the schools. I'm conservative and I don't like that idea. Many schools here have armed guards and they seem to get into trouble pretty often. They either get into fights with students or staff or they end up implicated in drug dealing. Some end up having inappropriate relations with students.

I would prefer to see schools get a 3 part security system:

Part 1) An alert system, similar to a fire alarm system that could be triggered from any classroom, main hallways or the administration office that would give a visual and audible warning in those locations.

Part 2) Heavy locking doors for classrooms, entrances and admin offices that could be locked electronically by the alert system. Ground floor windows need a steel security grating.

Part 3) Proper integration with the fire alarm/suppression system so that the security doors could not be locked in the event of a fire and, if already locked due to a security event when a fire was detected, would unlock.

Yes, a badguy could simply light a fire and the system would unlock the doors but the detection of that fire would alert the 911 system or the security event would have alerted 911 and the fire department and law enforcement would be dispatched without waiting for someone to manage to call 911.

Its all about heavy locking doors, secure ground floor windows and smart integration with the fire detection/suppression system.

Sounds more like a problem with the idiots being hired as guards than the fact they're armed. You can't put former/future affirmative action TSA agents in those positions.
